Spite Spending: The New Economic Trend In The LGBTQ Community.

Rainbow Cake

LUFKIN, TX–A local Texas bakery made headlines for their pride month cookies, and not just because the cookies were adorable and delicious.

Confections Bakery in Lufkin Texas posted photos of the rainbow heart cookies on their social media pages with the message “More LOVE. Less hate. Happy Pride to all our LGBTQ friends! All lovers of cookies and happiness are welcome here.”

While the message seems sweet and benign, conservatives, who famously hate love and acceptance, went on the defense. The owner, Cal Confections, said their business reportedly lost a significant amount of followers. And that is NOT something the LGBTQ Community takes lightly.

The following day, Confections was shocked to see a line out the door and around the block. The bakery not only sold out of their pride cookies, but the shelves were cleared of EVERYTHING!

“If there is anything my people love, it’s spending money to piss off the straights,” said local queer and cookie-fan Jesse Park. “It brings me so much joy to be able to help a business, anger the hetero-normative, and enjoy a delicious snack all at once!

“I’m actually gluten-free,” said trans activist Hannah Bachman. “I can’t even eat cookies. But the idea of spending my money at a place that would make bigoted straights have a full meltdown brings me more joy than sugar and carbs ever could.”

“I’m in massive debt,” interjected Jax Marsh, who graduated queer this year. “But priorities are priorities. Spite spending is our culture.”

As of today, Confections Bakery is thriving and Texas straights are avoiding cookies all month, just to be safe.
